Walpole InletA farewell from a local Walpole resident
Back through karri and tingle forest towards Hilltop LookoutFranklin River camp site on the banks of the Franklin river. The only campsite built off the ground

Tingle trees. Note the one on the left that has had the inner part of its trunk burnt by fire.I do hope the sheep appreciate the scenery
Heading back to the coast. In this case the track crosses the ridge of sand dunes with great views either sideConspicuous beach
Getting back on the track from the beach means keeping an eye out for the brown post, and then in this case scrambling up the sand dune. It didn't look very high but for every step up I seemed to take 2 steps back. Crawling on hands and knees was the answer
Cloud cover and a breeze from the ocean made it ideal conditions for walkingLooking back inlandA lot of work going on to protect the sand dunes from erosion, and to make the climb just that bit easierRame Head campsite. All of the camp sites are well hidden amongst the local vegetationThe first snake I came across. From here on I came across 2-3 each day, but this was the only one that didn't want to move. It won - I took a 500m detour
Heading towards Peaceful Bay
Chose to camp in the caravan park in Peaceful Bay. The fish and chips did not disappointThe Irwin Inlet
Crossing the Irwin Inlet, a distance of about 200m by canoe. Several others happen to arrive at the same time as myself, so it was teamwork to get everyone plus backpacks across, while ensuring there were 3 canoes on each side when we had finished.
Walking through the Showgrounds, part of the Quarram Nature Reserve, an open grassland with plenty of wildflowers, kangaroos and fliesLooking west to Peaceful Bay
Quarram Beach. Fortunately the sand on this beach was hard and easy to walk on

Walking through Quarram Nature Reserve with views to the north and south
A 7km walk along Mazzoletti Beach. Walk started fine as the sand was firm, but at the halfway mark it became very loose as the drivers of these two four wheel drive vehicles found. I tried to not show I was struggling as I walked past them
Fortunately the climb up from the beach had steps and a rope to pull myself up!

Granite rocks on Tower Hill
Lights BeachClearly someone with an interest in mathematics. The number is "Pi"I found the dirt tracks far easier to walk on than the bitumenFortunately it was stronger than it looked
Mount Hallowell just before Denmark. A tough climb because much of the ascent and descent was walking over granite rocks with the risk of a twisted ankle always in my mind.Descending what I found one of the more difficult hills, not because of the height and steepness of the climb but because of the granite rocks to negotiate. Don't let me put you off climbing this hill just out of Denmark - climb it from the Denmark side and only go as far as the granite slab where you get good views rather than the top
