Heading along the cost towards West Cape Howe camp site
Can't remember for sure but probably around the Lowlands beach area
Sometimes the track is just wide enough to walk on, so I was aware of not putting my walking poles into the side vegetation where a snake might be. I tended to walk with just one pole in front of me making enough vibration through the soil to give snakes enough warning to get out of the wayView north towards the Porongurup Range and Mt Barker. Looking down over Bomholm beachAt lookout near West Cape Howe campsite - it was a rather fresh ocean breezeSunset from West Cape Howe camp site
Unfortunately much of this area is taking a long time to recover from the effect of a bush fire
Some of these steps were very steep, so I felt sorry for people with short legs. Trials of different paths to protect the sand dunes
Very hard not to take photos of the coast. International visitors must wonder why there haven't been resorts built to take advantage of the great beaches
Nice feeling to have confirmation that after 920km I know I am walking in the right direction.A friendly Quenda, a type of bandicoot, coming to look for food scraps at the Torbay camp site.
Cosy Corner
Great colors to distract you from walking up and down sandhills
Walking past the Albany wind turbines makes you realise that the end is near. Unfortunately the weather made it hard to see anything very clearly in the distanceI thought this was a very appropriate message
Sandpatch camp site, built by the company who built the wind turbines as the original camp site had to be relocated. My last night on the track and I had the camp site, like the previous two nights, to myself. Plenty of time for reflection.
My first glimpse of Albany through the mist and low cloud
Getting close now. Photos taken by my #1 supporter, AnnieThe end must be here somewhere
Signing the log book for the last timeRinging the official bell to mark the end of my walk.Enough of the photos. I need to get this backpack off my back
